About Crossways

The Religious Education Curriculum for Catholic Schools in SA

Crossways is the Religious Education curriculum for South Australian Catholic schools that is mandated by the Bishops. The curriculum on this website is a revised draft awaiting approval and will replace the current mandated curriculum framework of 2009.

Crossways has been constructed to reflect and support the Crossways ‘Purpose of RE Statement’.

The Crossways Curriculum consists of:

  • Crossways Content articulated across 6 strands:
    • A skills and dispositions strand called Wisdom and
    • 5 Knowledge Strands: God, Us and Faith, Sacred Texts, Church for the World, Moral Life and Sacramentality and Prayer.
  • Scriptural Text Scope and Sequence
  • Achievement Standards

The delivery of this curriculum is supported by:

  • Performance Standards to assist with assessment and moderation
  • A ‘Big Ideas’ approach to learning in RE
  • Learning Design process in RE

The Crossways Curriculum logo has been re-designed; teachers, students and families are invited to interpret the logo and make meaning of the design by asking: What do you see? What do you wonder?
